It's been an amazing first week back at CJP. Getting to know your children has been a delight. The first full week back we've been working on getting acclimated to a new routine and schedule as well as learning about our new environment.
Drop Off
When we enter the classroom we are greeted and say, "See you later" to mommy or daddy then our things need to be put away. Lunchboxes go in the cabinet, water bottles on the cart, and nap stuff and extra clothes go in the cubbies or are hung on the hooks. Once our stuff is put away we are ready to wash our hands and sign in to class!
Free Exploration
The mornings start off with free exploration. This means the children have the opportunity to play in any center and choose any invitations to play or open provocations. This week in the Art Center we could paint at the easel, color with markers, practice cutting with scissors, and sculpt with clay. In the Block Center we used cylinder cans and lids to build really tall structures and really long structures.
Our friends set the table in the Dramatic Play are and splashed, poured and scooped water in the Sensory Table.
Daven
Morah Brielle leads us in our special davening songs. We sing special songs like modeh ani, shema, Torah, we say our handwashing bracha, give tzedaka, and read mitzvah notes!
Snack
We enjoy eating snack before we go outside to play.
Outside
This week outside our friends were very excited to play in the new sand pit! Some friends tried the new tricycle track too.
Group projects
Jemma, Lindsey, Mina, Zoe, and Saya explore liquid and palette watercolors with eyedroppers and mirrors. All of our friends began by stirring the pants with the squeezing end of the eyedroppers then proceeded to use the droppers like paint brushes. After modeling how we can use the droppers, our friends quickly discovered how they could manipulate the dropper to pick up the liquid and move it to where they wanted. Some friends even discovered they could use the droppers for the palate watercolors too.
Mina, Zoe, Tzipi, and Hammond explore through open ended painting We used beads, string, and corks to paint with. We created various textures and patterns with our materials.with a stamping method. Our friends used the corks to transfer paint in circles. slapping and twirling motions with the beads and string were used to create bubble type prints and swirling lines.
Lunch
We set up for lunch. Our friends take a placemat and a fork or spoon if they need, then they find an available spot at the lunch table. Finally they get their lunch out and sit to eat.
Our week has been busy and fun with making new friends and exploring new environments.
Thank you for a great first week.
