Shavuot

This week in the blue room, we started introducing our friends to our next Jewish holiday Shavuot!  On Shavuot, we celebrate Hashem giving the Jewish people the Torah on Mount Sinai.  Our friends were able to create their own beautiful Mount Sinai out of play dough.  They added flowers, rocks, and leaves.  It was so fun to see their imaginations explode with their creations!  It is great sensory exploration for our friends to feel and mix all different textures.

We told our friends how beautiful Mount Sinai was.  We painted flowers to put on our very own classroom mountain.  They used team work and took turns painting the massive flowers on the wall.  Our friends also noticed that when the two colors mixed, it created a new color!

To honor the holiday of Shavuot, our friends made their very own Torahs in class!  They each placed stickers on a scroll with Hebrew letters and followed the lines on the paper so carefully.  Then each friend rolled the paper to look like a Torah scroll.  Once sealed with ribbon, a crown was placed on the front of each Torah just like the ones in our classroom.

Summer is quickly approaching!  Our friends took advantage of the nice weather this week and had so much fun having picnics outside!  Next week is the last week of school.  Thursday is graduation, which starts at 11am and all of school is released at 12:30pm.  Friday will continue as a normal day with before and aftercare.  Thanks again for another great week at CJP!

Thanks,

Mother's Day

This week our friends were so excited to see their garden producing sprouts!  Our friends saw how their care and attention to the garden produced the lettuce that we planted.  It is a great way to teach them patience and delayed gratification.  Something wonderful does not always happen in a single moment, but with time and effort, the hard work pays off!

Going along with nature and spring, our friends created bird feeders!  Our friends concentrated so hard on lacing the Cheerios through the pipe cleaner.  A perfect way to help develop their fine motor skills!  This will help later on in their preschool education as we learn to write and hold a pencil properly.  The muscles strengthen as they use their fine motor skills on various activities.

Of course we had a super fun time talking and appreciating moms this week!  Without giving too much away, our friends created a couple of gifts for their moms.  Our friends loved talking about their moms to all their friends.  Each friend put so much time and love into each project.  They are so excited to give it to their moms at Muffins for Mom on Friday!

We love and appreciate all you moms out there!  Thank you for all that you do!  We would like to think all the moms out there are secret Superheros.  So from all of us in the Blue Room, Happy Mother's Day!!!

Spring!

We are celebrating all things spring this week!  The weather is getting wild in the Blue Room as we learn about the changes that happen in the spring time.  Our friends watched and help create rain inside the classroom.  Science experiments are a great tool in teaching our friends about cause and effect.  Our friends loved helping and watching the rain come down inside the classroom!

Spring has sprung and so will the newly planted vegetables our friends help plant this week.  We prepped the garden by pulling weeds, churning the soil, sweeping the area, planting the seeds, and continuing to water them.  Soon we will be able to see what their hard work produced!  Our friends love tending to their new garden they worked so hard to create.

So many colors are appearing as spring has begun.  With that in mind, we are continuing to work so hard on practicing ourcolors.  We started a color match book!  Everyday our friends work on a new color to match to their page.  The colored stickers are a great way to not only match, but incorporates fine motors skills to peel the stickers and place them on the page.  In the end, our friends will have worked on all the major colors for their book.

Thanks again for another great week!  As it is getting hotter outside, please continue making sure your child has their water bottle with them every day.  Outside time is fun and we want to make sure everyone stays safe and hydrated!

Thanks,
